Breakie Bliss Ball
Not all of my creations work out but this one is a winner!! Perfect to have for a small breakfast on the go or to get something into you with a 5am wake up....actually these bliss balls will make a great snack option full stop! Master 2.5 years had demolished these when he came home from daycare (that's the true seal of approval there!).

Ingredients:
¼ cup of dates (about 14 dates)
1 cup of rolled oats
½ cup of desiccated coconut
¼ cup of cranberries
2 tbs of coconut oil
1 tsp of vanilla essence
Extra coconut for rolling
Directions:
1. Place dates into a bowl of boiling water and allow to soak for 5mins
2. Place all other ingredients into the food processor. Drain the dates and add them.
3. Pulse a couple of times and then blitz together. Make into balls and then roll in extra coconut

Hi Julie
ReplyDeleteThat looks great - are they good for a mum looking to lose weight? How many balls would you recommend for an adult for breakfast? Also, can you freeze then?
Thanks a lot!!
Hi Mariana, these would be good for mornings which are really rushed, and/or involve an early wake up and you can't face a good breakfast that early. Like with everything you would want to balance this out with a more sustainable breakfast when you can but these do contain oats, coconut and coconut oil all great nutrients to start your days with! I would recommend 2-3 :)
ReplyDeleteAny alternative to coconut oil? Honey? 'Fraid we just have boring old olive oil in our house.
ReplyDeleteHehe - do try some coconut oil when you next get to the supermarket - you will find it a very versatile product and I use it in a lot of my baking/creations! Honey should work-it will help to combine everything, obviously this will raise the sugar level in these a bit. Let me know if it works out :)
ReplyDeleteHi there just checking the measurement for the dates as 14 dates looks like more than 1/4 cup? Thanks very much!
ReplyDeleteDepends on the size of your dates - approx is ok, your normal small sized dates will be about 12-14 and should be about 1/4 of a cup - does that help?
ReplyDeleteThese are DIVINE!! thank you :)
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteWhat would your suggestion be as a cranberry alternative?
Yay!! Your so welcome xx
ReplyDeleteThe cranberries give a really nice taste but you could easily mix with different dried fruit such as apricots :)
ReplyDeleteThese are very popular in our household everyone loves these, my nearly 3 year old prefers these ones over the standard bliss balls. I've had to make a double quantity otherwise they disappear too quickly.
ReplyDeleteHow long do these last in the fridge? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThey are fine for 5-7 days...I just tend to find they get gobbled up pretty fast :)
ReplyDeleteThanks or the recipe - so easy and delicious! 3 year old loved them.
ReplyDeleteThese are so good!! They didn't last very long both my boys loved them. I didn't have cranberries so used sultanas but I will have to try those next time :)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome!
